Latinos and Tea Parties: A Plan of Action Based on Shared Concerns and Core Values

To all Tea Party Leaders and Members, Conservative Organizations and Americans who want to get our country back:

We represent the Latino American Tea Party (http://www.latinoamericanteaparty.org). This organization was created on July 4th, 2010 to inform, educate and recruit Latinos to the values and principles that we share with the Tea Party movement. The rationale behind the creation of this organization was to overcome the misguided information spread to the Hispanic population by the left and liberal media.

We are sending this letter to ask a favor of all of you. We believe that for a long time we have under-estimated the power of the Latino vote. As we speak, more than 50 million Latinos live in The United States. We have reached a critical point where the results of any election could very well be determined by the Latinos, the largest minority group in the country. This is a reality that we should not ignore.

We would also like to remind you that both President Bush and President Obama won their elections with the Latino vote. The same thing happened when Harry Reid was re-elected in Nevada. We have little more than a year to send a loud and clear message across the country; to recruit as many Latinos as we can before we vote for our next president.

Being well aware of this situation we are asking for your help to put in place a plan to overcome this challenge. The implementation of this plan will help us to explain to the Hispanic community what the Tea Party is all about and to recruit Latinos to join the movement.

We also believe that this plan should be implemented as soon as possible by every conservative organization or indeed by every American who cares about the future of this great nation. These are the areas that we need help from you all:

1. This plan should be passed via letters, meetings or emails all over the country, to Tea Parties, conservative organizations, websites, TV channels and radio stations that share our values and concerns.

2. Provide information in Spanish that clearly explains the core values that led to the creation of the movement; specifically: respect for the constitution, limited government, lower taxes, national security, fiscal responsibility, reduction of the national deficit and respect for citizen's liberties. This does not mean that we are trying to replace English with a foreign language. Latinos arrive in the U.S. by the thousands every month and they must be informed as soon as possible not only about the risks and dangers we are facing under the liberal socialist agenda of the current administration but also who we are, what we stand for and what we care about.

3. Please start asking attendees coming to your meetings to bring Latino friends and make this request at every meeting. By doing this we might be able to gather millions of Latinos over time. Flyers should be available and distributed in Spanish indicating the core values of the Tea Party. This information can be read at home and spread to relatives and friends. We should also consider putting up billboards in Spanish indicating the same core values. A few examples are: Tea Party = Anti-socialism, Tea Party = Free market, The Tea Party Protects the American Dream, Tea Party = In God we trust, Tea Party = Lower Taxes, etc. All of these principles are very appealing and widely shared by the great majority of Latinos.

4. Tea Parties and Conservative Organizations should post information in Spanish stating that we are not anti-immigration, racists or against foreigners. It is imperative that Latinos learn the truth and not propaganda. The Hispanic community should be aware that the Tea Party wants everybody to succeed and reach the American dream in the same way we or our ancestors did.

5. We also want the Hispanic community to know that the Tea Party promotes and defends the same conservative, social and economic principles shared by the majority of Latinos. We reject socialism as a way of government, support free enterprise, the private sector and citizens' freedom to achieve individual happiness and success. Hispanics come to the United States expecting to find unlimited opportunities. America is well known for being a free society that allows immigrants to develop their potential and pursue personal achievement rather than a nanny state that creates dependency, conformism and stagnation.

Links to reputable conservative websites written in Spanish should be posted on our own websites on a permanent basis, so people can access important information to keep them updated. Examples of excellent sites that carry such information are listed below.

"Heritage Libertad" (http://www.libertad.org),
"The Americano" (http://www.theamericano.com),
"Fox News Latino" (http://www.latino.foxnews.com),

To further understand the importance of the Latino vote please visit these web sites for relevant information:

Democrats Believe Hispanics the “Key” to Obama’s 2012 Bid
Hispanics Now Largest Minority in 191 of 366 Metro Areas
New census milestone: Hispanics reach 50 million
Republicans Have a Golden Opportunity to Win the Latino Vote
The Media Double Standard on Hispanic Political Loyalties

We also want you to remember that the 2010 midterm elections saw not only the rise of the Tea Party but a record number of Hispanic candidates elected to prominent positions. Among them were: Marco Rubio, a Cuban-American elected to the United States Senate; Brian Sandoval, the first Hispanic governor of Nevada; and Susana Martinez of New Mexico, the first Hispanic woman in the country to be elected to the governorship of a State.

The Tea Party Republicans elected more Latinos than the Democrats did in the past election, so the question is where is the racism in the Tea Party? It is time for Latinos to know the truth. The Tea Party movement welcomes all races, ethnic backgrounds and all citizens who value the principles upon which this great country was founded.

Hispanics have conservative principles when it comes to culture, family and religion; however, they have been misguided by the liberal media that influences them disingenuously for political purposes. It is our duty to let them know that the Tea Party vigorously represents the true American values that made this country the immigrants dream with the best opportunities and individual freedom.

For the future of our country and generations to come, please consider our request as a top priority task of the Tea Party/Conservative movement before it is too late. The results of the next Presidential election will tell us whether it was worth our effort. We all know that we should not take the risk and pay the same or even a higher price for four more years of socialism.
